Community Partnerships

 

Many agencies and businesses in the community contribute greatly to the success and personal growth of Hope Ministries residents. Project Homecoming Program of Indiana Health Care Center

Project Homecoming provides primary health care to homeless men, women and children in our community.  Residents of Hope Ministries, as well as unsheltered homeless individuals, can receive health services including dental care and referrals to specialists.  Residents are referred to Project Homecoming when they first arrive at Hope Ministries.

 

Memorial Central Clinic and Memorial Southeast Clinic

 

Memorial Clinics provide health care services to homeless individuals on a sliding fee basis.  Homeless individuals without income can receive a voucher from a case manager to cover the $10.00 co-pay fee. Memorial provides referrals for dental care and specialists.

 

Memorial Hospital Community Health Enhancement Division

 

Occupational Therapists from Memorial’s Community Health Enhancement provide developmental screening for infants and children through six years old.  Children experiencing delays in development are connected with the First Steps program for services.

 

Madison Center

 

Madison Center provides inpatient and outpatient mental health services for residents in need of mental health care.  Madison’s Community Support Program also provides case management services, medication monitoring and payee services for individuals with a chronic mental illness.

 

St. Joseph Regional Medical Center

 

St. Joseph Regional Medical Center provides an annual flu shot clinic for residents, individuals living on the street, staff and volunteers at Hope Ministries.

 

South Bend Community School Corporation

 

South Bend Community School Corporation provides support for Hope Ministries Adult Learning Center with materials for the adult learner and connection to GED testing.

SBCSC also provides enrollment assistance, school supplies and transportation to all school-age children living at Hope Ministries.

 

Preventive Medicine, P.C.

 

In December of 2006, Dr. Alfred Pinto and the staff of Preventive Medicine, PC began a free clinic in the Family Life Center in order to directly serve the residents of Hope Ministries. Once a week, Hope residents have access to chiropractors, massage therapists, acupuncturists and nutritionists at no cost.

 

St. Margaret’s House

 

St. Margaret’s House, a day shelter for women and children, opens its programs, including parenting classes, to Hope’s women and children.

 

Purdue Extension Services

 

Purdue Extension Services provides Hope residents with classes on money management, nutrition and cooking.

 

Gethsemane Church of God, Inc.

 

On Angel’s Wings Pre-Employment Training is offered through Gethsemane Church of God, Inc. Participants (including several Hope residents) are able to receive certification in forklift operating, CPR/First Aid, OSHA and assistance in job searches. Wingsparticipants are exposed to skills that develop positive attitudes and behavioral habits, facilitate empowerment and a new awareness of career potential. 

 

PentaVision Communications, Inc.

 

PentaVision Communications, Inc. has used their professional media expertise to help Hope Ministries tell their story for several years. Videos produced and created by PentaVision have been used to share an overview of Hope Ministries and also to introduce individual recipients of Spirit of Hope awards given at the annual community luncheon. In addition to this service, Michael Lacognator, PentaVision Director of Marketing Michael, visits Hope Ministries several times a year to teach a class on communication.

 

American Mental Health Association

 

American Mental Health Association provides the “Developing Capable People” seminar materials 6-7 times each year for residents of Hope Ministries.

 

Crooked Creek Ranch 

 

Crooked Creek Ranch in Wakarusa, IN offers outdoor fun for the residents of Hope Ministries, through horseback riding for children and adults, green space for walks in the woods, cookouts and tractor rides.

 

Center for Hospice and Palliative Care

 

Hospice offers the services of a bereavement counselor to meet with Hope residents who have suffered the loss of loved ones. 

 

Southgate Church

 

Southgate Church provides teachers and mentors for a semester long seminar, Life Lessons. Cooking and homemaking skills are interwoven with lessons on being a faithful Christian. One on one peer support helps women build friendships and support networks.

 

St. Mary's College Social Work Department

 

St. Mary’s College places social work field placement students at Hope Ministries. Students gain valuable experience while providing essential services to Hope residents.

 

Express Professionals

 

Express Professional president, Norm Robertson, teaches a session on "What Employers Want" for Hope residents preparing for their job search.  He also has an open door for people wanting to apply for positions with Express Professionals.
